As a hunter, I find it so sad that these kinds of tragedies still happen. There is absolutely ZERO reason a hunter should EVER hit the wrong target. This is gun safety and hunting 101, don’t EVER shoot at anything without a 100% identification. A pig and a dog look nothing like a deer or other common animals we hunt. So hunters, let’s be patient, a missed harvest is better than a wrong shot .

As you stated though, the sad reality is that these events happen more than we would like. Thus I appreciate your advice on all of us being proactive in our and our pets safety. Our dogs wear orange during hunting season and I suspect this practice could save pet lives.
